About the Author
Caryn M. Bing, RPh, MS, FASHP Caryn Marie Dellamorte Bing, RPh, MS, FASHP holds a BS from University of Illinois College of Pharmacy, an MS in Health Systems Management from Rush University, and she completed a pharmacy residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke s Medical Center in Chicago. Ms. Bing has over 25 years of practice, management, and leadership experience in alternate site pharmacy services. She is currently Corporate Clinical Services/Residency Program Manager at Critical Care Systems, a national home and specialty infusion provider. Her current responsibilities include development of clinical standards of practice and management of PGY1 Pharmacy Residency programs in five locations. Ms Bing has remained involved in professional association leadership throughout her career, and is currently the President-Elect for Nevada Society of Health-System Pharmacists. She also held leadership roles with Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists, served on the ASHP HACCP Section Executive Committee, and was Chairperson for the ASHP Continuity of Care Task Force. She has been a frequent ASHP Delegate and Alternate Delegate (IL, NV). Caryn is a Fellow of ASHP, and received the first Distinguished Service Award from the ASHP HACCP Section. Ms. Bing is Editor of Extended Stability of Parenteral Drugs. She has served on the Editorial Boards of AJHP, the Journal of Pharmacy Practice, and Perspectives in Pharmacy. She has published a number of articles and book chapters, and has presented at many state and national meetings

The authors are all well known experts in the industry including Bing herself and have walked the walk as well as talked the talk. This is Herta’s debut novel. She tackles cyber bullying, which as a parent scares the hell out of me. Now this book is totally a novel but was a total educational book for me. I totally recommend parents to read this and start an open conversation with their children…. Isabel is a lawyer, a wife and a mother of a 14 year old and 10 year old... She is like every mother I know, she is trying to do it all and questions every decision she makes. ... Saving Phoebe Murrow was an amazing and heartbreaking story. I loved Phoebe and my heart broke for her. Herta’s writing was amazing, she really made me think. Bullying was one thing when I was in high school. It was notes and rumors and just mean girls you could kind of avoid….now a days cyber bullying is WOW..I have no words. The things that happened in this book at the hands of mean girls is terrifying. I highly recommend everyone to read this book and have a discussion with your children about kindness, let's end bullying….again I will get off my soap box. About the Author
Herta B. Feely is a writer and full-time editor. Her short stories and memoir have been published in anthologies and literary journals, including The Sun, Lullwater Review, The Griffin, Provincetown Arts, and Big Muddy. In the wake of the James Frey scandal, Feely edited and published the anthology, Confessions: Fact or Fiction? She was awarded the James Jones First Novel Fellowship and an Artist in Literature Fellowship from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities for The Trials of Serra Blue. She has also received an award from American Independent Writers for best published personal essay for a piece on immigration. In Saving Phoebe Murrow, Feely continues her commitment to activism on behalf of children. A graduate of UC Berkeley and Johns Hopkins University, Feely is the co-founder of Safe Kids Worldwide, an organization dedicated to saving children from unintentional injuries, the leading killer of children in the United States. A riveting story about adolescence, family and the consequences of a single act of cruelty.

What does it mean to be a good mother, when the cruelty and betrayals of adolescence go to far? How do we keep our daughters from harm and how far should we intrude into their lives to do so? Herta Feely deftly pens a riveting story about a mother whose “ perfect life” threatens to unravel, in the wake of a cruel act of cyberbullying. That single thoughtless act unleashes a cascade of unexpected consequences for the whole family and beyond. From the first page, I couldn’t put this book down.

Your next book group book--especially if you are a parent!

I could recommend this book for anyone--it's suspenseful and a quick read, but I'd particularly recommend it for parents, as it deals with social media, and the new threats our children face that I had never really considered. It's set in the world of private-school Washington DC, so anyone with a connection to the DC area will enjoy the local culture and references. We get to view this world through the eyes of anxious parents--anxious for social status, popular kids, and loving relationships with their own (or other's!) spouses AND through the eyes of their teenage children just beginning high school. It kind of took me back to what it feels like to be 14 and how our inner voice is almost completely determined by our peer group. GREAT for book groups--especially moms and dads who want to gain insight into the minds of teens and to examine parental values--do we trust our kids and their friends? how do we set limits and discipline, while encouraging their budding individuality? is it possible to protect them from the minefield that is adolescence?

Kim Goodwin is VP Design and General Manager at Cooper, where she leads an integrated practice of interaction, visual, and industrial designers, and also directs the development of the acclaimed Cooper U design curriculum. A "desert island" design book, and an excellent guide

Kim Goodwin has written a book that I've been hoping for for years.

It's the book I turn to when I want thorough yet approachable guidance or reminders for how to do design.

I told a colleague of mine: "Finally! The textbook and handbook for the practice of interaction design!" Much inspiring and useful work has come before, but I haven't found such a comprehensive and useful how-to book for practicing and aspiring interaction designers.

If I could only have three books on my shelf to refer to in my interaction design (or if I were on a desert island where I was going to be designing interactive systems with people), I'd have:
* Kim Goodwin's Designing for the Digital Age for process,
* Jennifer Tidwell's Designing Interfaces for patterns, and
* Alan Cooper et al's About Face (3) for principles.

Designing for the Digital Age: How to Create Human-Centered Products and Services serves as an excellent guide and reference for new and experienced human centered design practitioners. Kim Goodwin (VP of Cooper) does a great job translating her goal-oriented design processes into clear and understandable terms. Human/user centered design books can easily be littered with heavy jargon or unintelligible references that make it difficult or impossible to understand or practice. Goodwin makes a conscious effort to explain and visualize many of the concepts introduced in each chapter and keeps the research lingo within reason. For example, in Chapter 12: Defining Requirements, Goodwin dispels what requirements aren't (i.e. features or specifications) and promptly outlines what is needed to generate effective requirements (i.e. data needs, functional needs, product / service qualities, constraints). In addition, Goodwin's writing style guarantees a cognitive learning experience with most readers by providing multiple exercises and scenarios that engage and evoke a desire for comprehension. The photography, diagrams, and charting are plentiful and supplement the subject matter effectively also.

I believe that this book is easily a pylon supporting the ever-swelling weight of UCD with its hoard of overlapping design disciplines. I recommend it to anyone interested in design or the design process...

Kim Goodwin has written a book that is destined to become a classic for Interaction Design practitioners. Whether you're new to the field of Interaction Design or an experienced practitioner, this book really does have something for everyone. My copy is already liberally tagged with sticky notes.

At 728 pages the book is detailed and thorough and designed as a walk through the end-to-end process of creating a product or service. Don't be put off by its weight, the color-coded sections allow you to easily dive into specific areas: Research, Modeling, Requirements, Framework, Detailed Design, Ensuring Success. The chapters within each section provide detail, examples, and case studies. For example, if interviewing is not your strength, the research section provides guidance from planning your research through to conducting interviews with targeted people. The annotated interviews are a terrific way of illustrating the points made earlier in the chapter and pulling all the information together.

Thoughtfully illustrated and beautifully designed, this will become one of those books found on Interaction Designers bookshelves that shows signs of regular use. At the start it sounded a bit theoretical, and only towards the end did it seem like the Author had also got his hands dirty doing some implementations. Would have been good at the start for the author to list what implementations he was involved with. It only covers some of the modules, such as DP and SNP (possibly a few more, was a few months back I read it), but I got a lot out of it, and for me it was well worth getting. It reminds the reader that APO is a very powerful tool if set up well, and if you can tranfer that belief to the users who end up using it.

As the book is wide-ranging some details may miss some SCM experienced readers.
Anyway, it's a must-have book for anyone (Business analyst, consultant, end-user...) who deals with SAP SCM since the reader can find interesting advice, data, or explanation whatever the SAP role group he belongs to.

Perfect for a novice like me

I am in technical school and one of the things that we are learning, or are supposed to learn, this semester is Python. I have the assigned book and can't understand a word of it. So, I went looking for another course or book that spoke English and hopefully had some good examples because that is how I learn best. "Learn Python in One Day" is exactly what I was looking for and I have gotten more from this book than any of the other resources I have gone to combined. The explanations are easy to understand and the sample code for each concept is exactly the sort of thing that I need to learn. Well done.

Very Basic Material

I'm not an expert in programming but I have significant exposure to and respectable knowledge on other languages such as HTML/CSS, SQL, and C++. Reading halfway through this book, I can say that anyone who has taken a baseline programming class or have used the likes of CodeAcademy will find the material in this book very familiar.

The book delivers on its promise of giving beginners a very graspable entry into programming and is able to get readers started on the very basics, from downloading the Interpreter + Python Shell to learning the syntax of the language.

However, the book does not go very well past teaching the syntax and the basic functions that can be used in Python. Also something to note, as few others have mentioned, the book does not go into more complex concepts such as classes and object-oriented programming. I feel as though this book in entirety could be just one chapter in an entire book that is meant to completely teach most of what Python has to offer. The main problem here is that it teaches the reader to create very basic code that can hardly be used in today's practical applications of coding.

It is a useful “pamphlet” in its own right, as a quick reference perhaps to the functions that can be used in Python, but for readers who have already been exposed to any level of programming may want to grab a book that is more in-depth and capable of teaching concepts that can’t be found online with a quick Google search. The material in this book could have easily been found on some free Python beginner guide found online.

I would perhaps be okay with what the book has to offer if it costed less. I feel the book presents about $5 worth of material. Costing $11 with tax, I could have thrown in another $15 on top of that to get a real book that will get me quite a bit farther in learning Python. Perhaps only the fact that it is a book that is on a technical topic is why it costed $11 rather than $5. Maybe programming books are just costly, even at the very basic level, who knows.

The bottom line is that this book is by no means useless. Credit must be given to the fact that it is indeed aimed at pure beginners who prior to this book know nothing of programming. However for real programmers trying to thoroughly learn the Python language, I cannot recommend this book for purchase.

Very good for begginers

I am a C++ programmer that wanted to start with Python programming. I purchased this book to learn the language in one day. It took me about 5 hours to read the whole book. It is nicely written book. The flow of the subjects in the book is perfect. In 5 hours I feel that I know a lot about Python. The whole book is about 120 pages, divided into 10 to 15 pages per chapter. The book covers, data types, strings, lists, tuples, dictionary, decision making, if statements, loops, etc. But it does not get in to Object Oriented stuff. Classes are not covered. I wish there was a 2nd follow up book to continue on reading into more advanced subjects.
